Learn how to enjoy and identify birds on this walk geared for the total beginner! Join us for a walk through the varied habitats found at Hammonasset State Park, as we look for migrating hawks, eagles, owls, shorebirds, waterbirds, and songbirds. Hammonasset is one of CT's premier birding hotspots and offers woodland, grassland, marsh and habitats. Due to the park's coastal location, it provides importantmigratory stopover habitat for landbirds, shorebirds and raptors. Jerry Connolly, owner of The Audubon Shop, will be our guide.  He has been leading seasonal weekly bird walks at Hammonasset for closeto 30 years. Jerry will have a telescope for viewing, and a field guide in his pocket to refer to.  Geared for beginners, but everyone is welcome!  Binoculars are highly recommended. Easy level terrain. Please dress for the weather, and bring an extra layer along as it is often windy and cooler at the shore. Meet at Madison Wool, we will then carpool from The Audubon Shop to the park.
