Fixing Mistakes, Reading Your Knitting, and Tips from The Top. With Mary Crosby. Sunday, January 20, 2019. 2-4 PM. $25.00. $10.00 deposit holds your space. *Maximum 6 students*
Become the boss of your knitting by learning how to "read" your stitches. With this class and a little practice, you will soon be able to figure out where you are in a pattern and to recognize and correct errors. You’ll spend less time running to the yarn shop for help and more time working on your projects.
WHAT WE WILL LEARN: The first portion of the class will be devoted to studying the way stitches sit on the needle and what a knit stitch and purl stitch as well as common increases and decreases look like. The second part will be devoted to practical skills. You will learn how to count rows in one color and multi-color knitting, find your place in a stitch pattern, and keep track of increases and decreases during shaping. You’ll also learn to find and correct errors. Finally, if you have a project on the needles, especially if you are in trouble, bring it and put your new skills to work !
What to bring:
Two colors of smooth, light to medium colored yarn. Should be worsted weight or heavier
Needles appropriate for the yarn – straight or circular. We will be knitting swatches back and forth
Locking stitch markers – 4 or 5 are enough
Pen or pencil
Reading glasses if you use them
If you wish, bring a project currently on the needles
