Many natural dye sources are available commercially in extract form. These are easy to use powders and liquids that give you the opportunity to blend and extend your range of colors. In this workshop we will look at the base colors each extract offers and experiment with ratios to create custom color recipes. We will be working with some of my favorites, cochineal, madder root, indigo, weld and a few others. We will go over proper prep and mordanting for working with natural dyes and work with wool yarns for this workshop.

This is a portfolio building workshop, you will end up with a detailed catalog with samples for reference later, at least 30 colors.

Please bring notetaking materials, lunch, whatever you need to be comfortable in an outside setting for the day. Snacks and tea/water provided; places available for takeout as well.
