Artisan natural dyers have a number of options at their fingertips to maximize the use of the water, energy and dyestuffs that they use in their practice, a sensible way to use precious resources. Using a few easy techniques, we will work together to coax 4 shades from a single dye pot using unique color combinations, color shifting and overdyeing, including using an indigo vat. Afterwards, we’ll take our spent dye baths and create another range of shades.
Participants will work in teams and dye their 4 colors and their exhaust bath colors. We expect between 4-5 colors per team, so it’s possible to end up with a color rainbow of 16-20 or more gorgeous natural shades! Each participant will end up with 16-24 skeins of yarn!
