Engage in the serene, time-honored practice of Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. Use a simple running stitch, to transform linen into a small, embellished and practical bag. All steps of the Sashiko “small stabs” process will be covered; drawing out grids or stencils, laying out patterns, making a stitching plan. Choose from traditional Sashiko patterns and Floral Motif stencils. We will hand sew the two decorated fabric panels into a fully-functional drawstring bag. All tools and materials provided.
Each class kit will include a pair of Sashiko needles, one skein of thread, a tapestry needle threader, a pair of linen fabric squares, ribbons for the drawstring, and take-home pattern instructions. Plus, access to colorful communal Sashiko threads, fabric markers, pencils, stencils, templates, and rulers.
Please bring your good reading glasses, snips or small scissors, water bottle and snack.
