Discontinued Yarns...
Ashley Martineau
Sigh. I do hate it when yarn companies discontinue yarns. Especially without notice. I'm going to go over the yarns I carry, and some possible substitions for those not being made anymore. I will do updates like this periodically, although I hope I don't have to.
1. Glow in the Dark yarn. Super fun and popular, just found out it is too expensive to be made anymore, so it's not. I am totally out, have had phone orders for the last of my stock. A real bummer.
2. Swedish Yarn's Vinga: Our basic workhorse yarn, superwash wool and nylon. Great twist and colors. It is not going to be imported anymore, so I did find another alternative: Universal Yarns Classic Worsted. Good yardage and twist, and fully wash and dry. Will replace Vinga with this yarn as it sells out.
3. Aslan Trends Tango, plus all their wools: Aslan Trends, what are you thinking? Found out very late that you discontinued Tango, a favorite novelty yarn, but kept Litoral and added Litoral Sparkle. You also discontinued ALL thick and thin Merino, and any other wools, to add crochet cotton. Crochet cotton? Seriously? I still have your Royal Alpaca, and hope you keep at that. But if you don't , let me know, ok?
4. Fibra Natura Shepherd's Own: This was discontinued a few months ago, and it's a big loss. Great yardage, soft wool, all natural colors, and a good price. When this runs out, I have a US source of a nice natural undyed yarn, and will get it in when there is room. All the natural color variations were sublime, and many a customer made the Coastal Knits Cabled Sweater pattern from this worsted weight fave.
That's all the (bad) news for now.....the GOOD news is that we are stocked with a ton of great yarns so come on down and get knitting!!
